Performance

Performance is a short section covering two unrelated things that both trade a small amount of resource use for something else: an optional ambient overlay effect, and how often NEXUS re-checks system memory to warn you before it becomes a problem.

Controls

LabelWhat it doesDefault
Enable Nexus OverlayTurns the ambient overlay effect on or off.Off
Idle intensityHow strong the overlay effect is while idle.50%
RefreshHow often system monitoring refreshes.1000 ms
RAM alertThe memory-usage percentage that triggers a warning.85%

Notes

The Nexus Overlay is a purely cosmetic ambient effect — it has no bearing on what any agent is doing and is off by default. Idle intensity only matters once the overlay is enabled.

Refresh and RAM alert work together: NEXUS re-samples system memory every Refresh interval, and if usage crosses the RAM alert percentage, you get a warning. Shortening the refresh interval makes the warning more responsive at the cost of slightly more constant background work; lengthening it does the reverse. The same interval also drives the live CPU and memory readout in the Inspector — one shared timer behind both.

  • Settings reference — the control-by-control contract for this section.
  • The Inspector — where the system-monitoring readout this section configures actually shows up.
