Persistence

Persistence covers where NEXUS keeps things on disk, how much room it may use for your contribution history, and — for plans that include it — where it backs everything up to.

Notes

Your statistics are never affected by the budget. Daily totals, per-category counts, active days, and run history are kept permanently, in full, no matter how the budget is set or how long you have been using NEXUS. The budget governs only the detail behind those numbers: the individual activity records you drill into when you expand a day. Setting the smallest budget does not shorten a completion history, lower a total, or erase a day from your history.

Over budget, the oldest detail is discarded first. When retained detail passes the budget you have chosen, NEXUS drops the oldest records until it fits again, oldest first. In practice that means recent periods stay fully explorable while very old ones gradually become totals-only — you lose the ability to expand an old day into what exactly happened, never the day itself.

A bigger budget costs memory as well as disk. Retained history is held in memory while NEXUS runs, so raising the budget raises the app's memory use at launch in proportion. It is a genuine trade-off rather than a free upgrade: pick a larger budget if you regularly look back through old activity in detail, and a smaller one if a lean memory footprint matters more to you than deep drill-down. The 250 MB default is chosen to sit comfortably between the two.

Existing installations need no action. History recorded before this setting existed is carried over automatically the first time you launch the updated app. Nothing is lost in the process, and there is nothing to import, convert, or re-enable by hand.

Backup & Sync requires a paid plan. Without one, this section shows a "Not entitled" status and an upgrade link in place of the destination-folder controls — there is nothing broken to troubleshoot if you don't see them; see Account to confirm what your current plan includes.

Open in Finder is available regardless of plan — it's a read-only shortcut to where every agent's identity actually lives on disk (its persona, its memory, and any bit files attached to it), independent of whether you ever back that folder up anywhere.

  • Settings reference — the control-by-control contract for this section.
  • Account Settings — confirming what your plan includes.
  • General Settings — opening Workspace Insights, where the contribution statistics this budget backs are shown.
